Hiking

There are several trailheads and a large number of trails to be found around VVR. Several of these criss-cross the wilderness areas offering hikers an opportunity to view wildlife and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. Popular day-hikes out of VVR include:

  • Devil's Bathtub
  • Mono Hot Springs Trail
  • Graveyard Lakes

The US Forest Service also maintains a list of trails in the Sierra National Forest.

Fishing

Few spots offer such superb opportunities for fishing as Lake Edison. With the 15 mile per hour speed limit for boats, it's easy to enjoy the peaceful setting. The crystal clear water and legendary trout fishing make this the ultimate destination for avid fishermen looking to hook up a German Brown, Rainbow or Golden Trout. The lake head dock is an easy one-mile walk to Quail Meadows and the JMT/PCT.

Enjoy a day of fishing and hiking. Brook and Golden Trout are found in Cold Creek and Mono Creek, which are the two primary streams that feed Edison Lake. Bear Creek is always a popular fishing stream and is a short car ride away.
